Hirepool is pleased to announce the purchase of a 50% stake in TSNZ also known as Trench Shoring NZ. As of 1 July 2018, it will trade as Hirepool TSNZ.
TSNZ was established in 2007 and has grown steadily since then. It supplies and hires purpose designed and built excavation shoring equipment to the civil construction industry – both for trenches and open pit excavations. TSNZ’s range of equipment covers almost all excavation shoring jobs, from the smallest to the biggest. Currently based in Auckland and Christchurch, Hirepool TSNZ has the capability to supply shoring across the country.
Brian Stephen, Hirepool’s CEO, says of the purchase, “TSNZ is a solid company with long-standing team members. We are very pleased that all of TSNZ’s employees are remaining on board and will continue to be led by TSNZ General Manager Frank Swanberg, who will report to Hirepool’s Chief Operating Officer, Colin Sinton.”
“The acquisition of TSNZ fits well into our ongoing strategy of increasing our specialist capabilities to better service our trade customer base across the country, and adds to our building pumping and de-watering assets.”
Hirepool’s general manager of sales and marketing, Gary Richardson says trench shoring is an area that the company has been wanting to expand into for some time.
He explains, “Shoring is a growing category in the civil construction industry and is an ideal fit with Hirepool’s existing rental range. And the TSNZ team are a natural fit with Hirepool, given their primary customer base and ours are similar. With the increased focus on safety in the workplace, many of our customers are already starting to use shoring products – in fact many are already dealing with TSNZ.”
TSNZ offers the widest range of shoring gear in New Zealand coupled with a longstanding, expert team who have in-depth knowledge of both the equipment and relevant Health and Safety legislation and its application.
Instrumental in the generation of new Worksafe Excavation Safety Good Practice Guidelines, Frank Swanberg, TSNZ’s General Manager is passionate about developing better safety practices in the civil construction sector.
He says the increasing health and safety regulations will bring greater demand for trench shoring equipment. “We expect the trench shoring sector to grow significantly. Coupling the expertise of TSNZ with the market reach of Hirepool will allow us to grow with it.”
Hirepool’s Gary Richardson adds, “With the infrastructure work forecast across NZ over the next few years, this is an exciting development for both companies as we will be able to deliver better value through increased specialist services to our contractor customers.”
“Our teams think and operate alike. There is a good cultural fit between the two companies” says Gary. “It that fit wasn’t there then this deal wouldn’t have gone ahead.”
Over the coming months, TSNZ customers can expect to see the new Hirepool TSNZ branding emerging. Other than that, Gary says they can expect the same high quality products and expert knowledge from the same team they have always dealt with.
Hirepool remains the principal business partner of Civil Contractors New Zealand and actively looks to give back to the communities it operates in, sponsoring the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and supporting Sustainable Coastlines
