The Hirepool Fishing Competition is back for 2022. The nationwide measure competition takes place during the entire month of April and has over $40,000 in prizes, including the chance to get out on the boat with Scott & Mig from Fishing and Adventure.
The last time the Hirepool Fishing Competition took place was in 2020 with over 800 participants. Postponed in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic opening its second can of worms, Hirepool now looks to have over 1000 participants out hooking on to this opportunity to fish for amazing prizes.
The prizes predominantly consist of goodies from the sponsors of Hirepool’s competition. Those include Hilti, Honda Marine, Youngman Richardson, Okuma Fishing, Surftees, New Zealand Fishing News, Raymarine, Cressi, Komatsu, GFAB Trailers, Maxwell, Battery Zone and Ebbett.
This year, Hirepool has partnered with Coastguard New Zealand as a charity partner, to help promote their initiatives and inform competition participants about boating safety.
Entries for this year’s competition are open from February 1st to February 28th. Those who wish to enter can do so online at www.HirepoolFishingComp.co.nz. The entry fee is $30 for the general public and $20 for Hirepool Trade Account Customers.
Those who register will be able to pick up their angler pack in March, from their nearest Hirepool branch. This pack includes the official competition measure mat, its t-shirt and other goodies.
Everyone who enters at least one fish goes in the Grand Prize Draw to win a local fishing charter for them & three mates with special guests Scott and Mig from Fishing & Adventure and be deckies for the day.
Prizes for this year’s competition involve 1st to 3rd for each species (1st to 5th for Snapper, Kingfish and Kahawai), plus three mystery length prizes for each species.
