On Friday August 5, Hirepool hosted the Civil Contractors New Zealand Construction Excellence Awards.
Over 600 were in attendance to celebrate and give recognition to the efforts of contractors, during the awards dinner hosted at Te Pae Convention Centre in Christchurch. At the HIANZ Hire Excellence Awards at the same venue on the same night, Hirepool’s Christchurch City (Moorhouse Ave) branch was recognised for doing the mahi and was awarded Branch of Year for $2.5 million plus in revenue.
This is an awesome achievement and a big congratulations is in order to Morrell, Norm Barber and the wider Christchurch team for an amazing achievement.
The branch also picked up the merit award for Healthy and Safety, proving to the industry that we continue to put our team members and customers at the forefront of health and safety.

Following the news of the team’s success, Hirepool’s CEO Brian Stephen said, “This award is a great reflection of the top effort put in over many years by the wonderful team at MA. Well done to you all – you’ve again set the bar high for us all to follow.”
Hirepool’s COO Ant Smit was also immensely proud of the Moorhouse Ave Branch receiving recognition for the hard work they put in every day. “The way that they combine the diverse skillset of the team, using energy and experience to achieve excellence in Health and Safety is the area that really stands out for me.”
Rob Stewart, the Southern Regional Manager was proud of the southern team. “A great effort from Paul, Levi and the rest of the Moorhouse Ave team in one of the busiest sites in the country. What made this particularly impressive was Paul and Levi’s short tenure in their current roles. Well done team. An excellent achievement for all the hard work you put in.”
