As part of Hirepool’s new partnership with Northland Rugby, we gave away 100 pairs of new rugby boots to Northland tamariki who did not have the essential footwear they need to get out on the field with their mates.
In May this year, we ran a campaign where anyone could nominate a deserving Northland child (up to the age of 12) who could do with a new pair of rugby boots.
On June 2 at our Whangarei branch, the Hirepool team with a boot-load of boots set up shop with Northland Taniwha players to deliver 100 pairs of boots to the smiling faces of Northland kids who were invited to try on and collect their new sporting shoes.
Excited kids and their families flowed through our doors to meet Taniwha players Pisi Leuila, Bruce Kauika-Petersen and Johnny Cooper who were more than happy to give out autographs, stand for photographs and help the kids try on their new boots.
Dave Glover, Branch Manager from Hirepool says, “Northland is brimming with talent and enthusiasm in its junior rugby ranks. But sadly, we know a lack of gear can stop kids from realising their potential. Hirepool wants to help make sure our tamariki aren’t held back.”
Cam Bell, CEO of Northland Rugby says, “We’re stoked to have the support of Hirepool, and this is a fantastic way to kick things off. Helping our tamariki be involved in the game is great for our sport and our communities.”
The Hirepool team and the Northland Rugby players played shoe shop with the only transactions being smiles and banter before wishing the kids, with their new red boots, all the best for the season.
