Each year Hirepool hosts Hands on With Hirepool in conjunction with the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). This event is aimed to give women involved within the construction industry the ability to operate and experience power tools in a controlled environment. This year the Mt Wellington Hirepool Branch hosted 30 ladies representative of different factions within the construction industry for a night of interactive fun and education.
With Hirepool staff on hand, the ladies of NAWIC were able to operate diggers, rollers, scissor lifts and boom lifts and get hands on with the latest tools on the market.
President of NAWIC Suely Mollinedo tells us “One of the favourite events for the NAWIC members every year is the Hands-on with Hirepool. This year has not been the exception, and we got to have an amazing evening full of learning and education around the equipment.
We enjoyed operating the rollers and diggers, and seeing Mt Wellington from another perspective (scissor lifts and knuckle booms) along with the chance to assemble some scaffolding. All of the Hirepool staff shared their valuable expertise on the equipment, and we enjoyed the night immensely meeting new people and sharing a casual BBQ.
The event is a must to do at the Auckland branch, and we appreciate the great reception of Hirepool. They are committed to supporting women in the construction industry – and giving us this fun and a great day.”
The number of women in the construction industry is on a steady incline, and we’re proud to see more gender diversity within the construction industry across New Zealand. With establishments such as NAWIC, women in construction have more support than ever to establish and sustain successful careers within construction, Hirepool are proud to be partnered with such an important cause.
