The 2025 Hirepool Baitmates Fishing Competition is set to make waves this April, offering anglers across New Zealand the chance to reel in a share of over $50,000 in prizes. This nationwide event runs throughout the entire month, allowing participants to fish anywhere, anytime.
How to Participate:
- Register: Complete the registration form and payment by March 23rd.
- Fish: Catch eligible species during April.
- Measure: Photograph each catch on the official measure mat.
- Submit: Upload photos via the competition website by May 1st.
Don’t miss this opportunity to showcase your fishing skills and contribute to a great cause. Participants can also add a $5 donation during registration to support Hirepool’s charity partner, Sustainable Coastlines, in their efforts to reduce plastic pollution.
Participants must use an official Hirepool Baitmates Fishing Competition measure mat for all catch submissions. These mats are available for purchase during registration at an additional cost of $15.

Entry Fees:
- $15 for Juniors (up to 16 years)
- $20 for Hirepool Trade Account Customers
- $30 for Adults
Prizes:
- Adults: 1st to 3rd prizes for each species (1st to 5th for Snapper, Kingfish, and Kahawai), plus three mystery length prizes per species.
- Juniors: Three mystery length prizes for each species.
- Grand Prize Pack: Valued at $2,500, eligible for anglers who submit at least three fish during the competition.
