If you’re digging post holes for a new fence or deck on your property, using a post hole borer will help you get the job done quicker - and your back will thank you for it!
Here at Hirepool, we have a variety of Post Hole borers for hire for every size of landscaping job. Choosing the right post hole borer for your job is key to getting your job done quickly and efficiently. In this guide and video, we’ll cover the range of post hole borers and augers that are available to hire and how to select the right one for the best result.
Before we explore our range it’s important to note when you hire a post-hole borer or any piece of equipment from Hirepool, you are required to read our instructions for use sheet. This can be found either on our website, attached to your contract or by scanning the QR code on the green tag on your equipment. Please take the time to read it carefully and follow all the safety steps before you start digging post holes.
Now, let’s have a closer look at our range:
There are a few key considerations when it comes to choosing the best post hole borer or an auger for your job. There are:
Hirepools non-motorized post hole borers are perfect for small landscaping jobs where you only need 1 or 2 holes and don’t need to go very deep. These borers, in particular, are useful for jobs such as creating small post holes and soak holes and available in 100-200mm diameter.
For digging larger holes, or a larger number of holes such as when erecting a fence or building a retaining wall, a motorised borer will be your best friend. Easily achieve straight, clean post holes for your project without breaking your back. As a post hole borer isn’t something people tend to have in the toolshed, hiring a post hole borer is an affordable way to get a superior result. No need to resort to your shovel!
Our motorised one-person post hole borer is perfect for when you’ve got a landscaping project and you need to dig a few holes. It can even be used for installing a new washing line or mailbox yourself! This post hole borer is for one-person operation only - making it a great choice if you want to complete the job yourself in an afternoon. It’s simple to use, easy to manoeuvre, and can dig holes with a diameter of up to 200mm with the correct auger.
At Hirepool we hire out this post hole borer and its auger bits separately so that you get the right bit for the job at hand.
In the interest of safety, it also comes with a safety lever that will shut off the machine in the event of it twisting out of control.
If you’ve got a bigger landscaping job where you need to dig more holes with a bigger diameter, you’ll probably need a motorised two-person post hole borer.
This post hole borer can dig holes with a diameter of up to 350mm. It is ideal for jobs such as fencing, decking and large retaining walls. With a standard auger bit attached, you can dig holes of up to 1 metre in-depth, but if you need to go deeper, we have half-metre and one-metre auger extensions available.
Need the power and you don’t have an extra pair of hands? Check out our hydraulic post hole borer. This powerful piece of equipment can dig holes with a diameter of up to 400mm and can reach a max depth of 1.9m with an auger extension. It’s better for commercial landscaping projects as you need a bit more room to use it.
If you’ve got a project where you’re going to need a large volume of holes, our range of Mini Diggers/Excavators can be fitted with an auger attachment. The defining factors for moving dirt with an auger and excavator are torque and speed. By using our mini diggers you will be able to complete a large scale project, like re-fencing your lifestyle block or farm with ease.
Before operating a Post hole borer, ensure you’ve got the correct safety gear. Safety glasses, gloves and eye protection are all essential to keep you protected from dirt and debris that may fly up when you’re operating your borer. Hearing protection is also recommended when operating machinery. Hirepool has a range of safety gear for sale so you can always pick some up from your local branch when you collect your equipment. Make sure you’ve got your own boots and protective clothing too!
Whatever digging job you are looking to tackle - whether it’s for decking, fencing or landscaping, Hirepool will have a post hole borer solution for you.
If you’d like more information, our friendly Hirepool staff will be happy to answer any of your questions. Ready to roll? Easily order gear online today for a quick and easy collection from your local branch.
