At Hirepool we pride ourselves on updating our fleet to include the newest innovations. We seek out gear that helps you get your jobs done faster, smarter and safer, so we’re very excited to add this new tool to our collection. The Hikoki 36v rebar cutter is the worlds first cordless rebar bender and cutter, and it’s now available to hire from Hirepool.
The perfect tool for those who work in construction, fabrication and other trades, thus a new rebar cutter makes cutting through reinforced steel bar (rebar) a breeze. Rebar cutters are much safer than using a cutting torch or other tool, and now had the benefit of being cordless, so you can cut close to where you’re working. Not only does this tool cut rebar, but it also bends it too, offering you the freedom to work anywhere.
In this guide:

Safety tips for using the rebar cutter
How to use Hikoki cordless rebar cutter and bender

The Hikoki cordless rebar cutter and bender has a 36v brushless motor that can bend one rebar up to 16mm bend and up to three 10mm rebar at once.
It’s lightweight, weighing in at only 18kg so it can easily be transported to your next job. Transporting rebar is hard enough thought a bulky cutter and bender too! It fits perfectly in any standard car boot or a work van.
It’s a powerful tool and built tough for any condition. The rebar cutter can be used safely in both rain or shine.
It is a time saver! You can save time by using the automatic mode to bend the rebar to one of the selected angles to get the job done smarter.
It cuts and bends. Why have two tools when you can have one that gets the job done? No matter if you’re rebar cutting professional or someone who wants to up their DIY game, you’re going to love this labour saving tool.
Before using the Hikoki cordless rebar cutter and bender, it’s important you are wearing the correct safety gear. This includes sturdy covered footwear and eye, hearing and hand protection. Now, it’s important you’re aware of your surroundings when using this tool. While you’re using the rebar cutter, stay behind the tool at all times. If you’re bending rebar that is a couple of metres long, it will move around as it bends; ensure you don’t snag any objects or people.
Using the Hikoki cordless rebar cutter and bender is simple.
Ensure you are wearing the appropriate safety gear before you start using the rebar cutter and bender. You should wear eye and hearing protection, gloves and a pair of sturdy boots. Ensure that you aren’t wearing any loose clothing as this could be caught in the machine.
No matter if you’ve used a rebar cutter before, you should always read the instructions for use of the equipment you plan to use before operating. You can find this by scanning the tag on your Hirepool gear or under the product instructions at the Hirepool website. Be aware that rebar cutters can vary a bit between brands and models, so even if you’re familiar with the tool it pays to check.
To select the desired function, turn the dial on top of the rebar cutter. To cut the rebar, select the yellow option and, to bend, select the angle on the indicator. The rebar cutter can bend bars at 180 degrees, 135 degrees, 90 degrees or 45 degrees.
Note that the colour code indicates the size of rebar you want to bend; white is for 10mm, green is for 12mm, and grey is for 16mm. There is a bend diameter of 62mm, and it can bend one rebar up to 16mm, or two 13 mm rebar at once, and even two 10mm rebar at once.
Be careful to keep your hands at a safe distance, hold the cutter firmly and place the rebar in the cutter or bending section of the tool.
Note that return is the reset setting. Simply set on return and pull the trigger to reset the rebar cutter back to zero. This handy feature makes it easy to switch between different bar diameters, another feature we love.
The bending presets allow the tool to automatically bend your rebar. For this, you’ll need a 90-degree bend. Simply set your angle with the dial, place one hand on the grip trigger and safety switch and the other hand on the piece of rebar you’re bending. Hold the trigger until you achieve the desired angle. The bender will automatically retract once you let go of the trigger.
If you require a custom angle, simply activate the manual mode opposite the trigger. Set the dial to an angle that is beyond what you need. For example, if you want to achieve a 60-degree angle, set it to 90 degrees. Then slot your rebar in and bend accordingly.
To cut with this machine, turn the dial to cut. Turn the tool over onto its left side and remove the safety cover. Then slide the rebar through the cutting slot. Hold one side of the rebar and squeeze the trigger until the rebar is fully cut. When you release the trigger, the cutter will retract automatically. It shears the rebar forcefully. It’s not a straight cut, but it’s a very straightforward job.
